Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act
The Perkins Act supports vocational education - that is, technical training for specific occupations, offered at high schools and colleges throughout the country. The latest reauthorization of the Perkins Act (currently known as "Perkins III") took place in 1998.
TWA is seeking to maintain the adult elements of the Perkins program, which have allowed thousands of working adults to enter and advance into skilled careers. Current debates are considering whether to make Perkins a high school-only program.
